My name is Vanessa Rivas and I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from the University of Southern California School with a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2010 and I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Chicano/a Studies from California State University, Northridge. As an LCSW with a background in ethnic studies, my passion is rooted in community, human rights and in supporting children, adults, and their families through the challenges of social justice. I have worked as a strength- based mental health therapist in non-profit community settings as well as medical settings.
With over 12 years of experience, my purpose is to create a safe healing experience to anyone seeking to heal past trauma, break intergenerational cycles, and develop a sense of awareness and consciousness in their life journey to living an honest, healthy, and fulfilling life. I have extensive experience in working with children, adults, and their families in creating a deeper understanding of their individual and relational experiences.
My areas of expertise include generational violence and trauma, family systems, foster care, domestic violence, incarceration, anxiety, and depression. In my practice, I will create an individualized treatment plan to meet your healing journey and needs while utilizing a culturally sensitive, non- judgmental, kind, and educational approach. My commitment will be meeting you where you are in your journey so that you can meet your goals to your fullest potential.
