Hello my name is Mary O’Hern, I graduated from the California State University Dominguez Hills in 2015 with Masters of Art Degree in Clinical psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Since earning my masters I have worked at a residential facility for teens and at a domestic violence shelter. Both experiences have provided me with a vast knowledge of helping clients cope with trauma. I pursued the field of therapy because I am very passionate about helping people find their safe space. Safety is something many take for granted, but it is a core need to help us strive and thrive as individuals.
I treat children and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and traumatic events. I use interventions that assist me to create a safe space where children and teen can fully express themselves. I find it is very important to help children and adolescent clients find their own voices and learn how to use them effectively. This starts with helping them to identify what they are feeling and how to productively express those feeling to the world. I also emphasize various coping mechanisms to help clients be better prepared for any future stress or trauma.
I treat adults in individual therapy struggling with a variety of life stressors and difficulties. Collaboratively we will identify and examine behavioral and thought patterns that have contributed to your distress then we will work on changing for the positive. We will implement grounding, coping, and empowerment techniques to foster growth and a balanced life. I look forward to working with you.
